I PUT A SPELL ON YOU, DESCARTES, BECAUSE YOU MESSED UP MY LIFE ONCE

Anatomy (from greek anatémnein: ana = up; témnein = to cut) is the act of cutting up or dissecting humans or other animals. This lecture performance opens up the stage as a fictional anatomical theater.
In the first act 'FEMALE ANATOMY', my medical doctor self will reproduce the knowledge about 'the female body' as taught in anatomical textbooks. The second act DISSECTING THE BODY OF KNOWLEDGE ON 'FEMALE ANATOMY' is an operation on the means of knowledge production and reproduction in anatomy as a cis- male, white european tradition. The third and last act, THE ACT OF INCORPORATION, is a ritualistic approach to integrate body knowledge from different sources in my body.
This performance is part of an artistic and personal process to dissect and subvert the body images etched in my mind through medical studies. Voyers welcome!

Vera is fascinated with the human body looking at it always from different angles. She teaches critical anatomy as a tool for self empowerment, preferentially in self organized contexts. Connecting theoretical and intuitive body knowledge her aim is to encourage people to write their own anatomy and strengthen the thinking body.
