Mandoline Whittlesey is a practice-based research artist and dancer, focusing on inter-subjective relationships, perceptual fluidity and symbolic phenomena, within a transdisciplinary perspective. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and dance (Oberlin College, USA in 2002) Mandoline danced in several companies in France (with choreographers Hélène Cathala, Leonardo Montecchia, Claire Filmon, Emmanuel Grivet...) She developed a passion for contact improvisation, studying with many renowned teachers in the US and Europe, and started teaching it in 2002. In parallel, she participated in many collaborations and began developing her own projects in 2006, particularly working with improvisation and performance installation. Trained in body-based psychotherapy and certified practitioner of Body-Mind Centering® in 2010, she created and co-directed SOURCES, a training program in somatic practices, from 2009 to 2013. Deeply touched by the practice of Authentic Movement which she has been pursuing for fifteen years, she has developed a France-based Authentic Movement program which will soon start its fourth year. Mandoline is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Choreography and Visual Arts at Wilson College (USA). She works with movement, light and space, articulating a deeply poetic vision in embodied expression. Her current creation is a modular piece inspired by the works of philosopher Lupasco and physicist Nicolescu, to be premièred in spring 2017.
