Sexus 3

SEXUS 3 is a performance and a research/experimentation project that, from a transfeminist and queer perspective, aims at escaping an endless list of binomial categories on which our identities are constructed: man/woman, hetero/homo, human/machine, human/environment, touch/sound, reality/fiction, art/science, ability/disability, normal/abnormal, public/private...

This project is the continuation of a line of work based on the deconstruction of sex and gender identities as well as in the interaction body/machine/environment. Founded on the metaphor of the cyborg elaborated by Donna Haraway, our performances present hybrid beings, chimeras, where the production of the subjectivity is the result of a prosthetic incorporation.

So far, we have designed two devices, used in the SEXUS 3 performance: one transforms corporal electricity into sound [BodyNoise amp] and the other one sees its sound modulated by the interaction between salt and body [Salt Synth]. The connection of these devices to the performers’ bodies is done through revised BDSM techniques, presenting sexuality as an artistic and technological creation that allows us to experiment with different body states, coupling the device, as a prosthesis, to the body.
