De Caelo is part of a political effort to restore dignity to bodies that have been deprived of it, and to emotions and knowledge that have been wronged. It teaches us about the porous sensations of bodies, the emotions of hearts, and the intelligence of heads. It restores and sharpens our capacity for empathy, which for me is one of the main keys to social progress.
The tool that enables me to link mind, body, and emotion is astrology. I believe that this discipline can serve the understanding and development of a personality.
Although it reveals certain ‘innate’ dynamics towards which we are predisposed, they are in no way decisive. On the contrary, knowing our predispositions, recognising and knowing how to formulate our emotions, our intuitions, and our instincts, gives us the choice of whether or not to follow them. In fact, the determinism that has often been attributed to astrology gives way in my work to the concept of free will, to the process of recognising, valuing and reappropriating our knowledge, our stories, and our history.
The workshop takes place as part of an artistic residency that ends with the guest performance Have A Safe Travel on June 7th and 8th.
