Introduction to the material of Wer nicht gegen sich selbst denkt, denkt überhaupt nicht. ABWESENHEITSERFAHRUNGEN
Malte Schlösser and his team invite you to explore some of the central questions of the upcoming production Wer nicht gegen sich selbst denkt, denkt gar nicht. Abwesenheitserfahrungen through a joint discussion of selected background texts and short readings from the play: Through which psychological forms of absence do we prevent one another from truly existing? How and why do we deny this emotional violence, these communicative, micro-fascist acts?
Malte Schlösser’s texts bring together the complexity of psyche and power critique: social criticism without trauma sensitivity is empty, and thinking about the psyche without a hyperreal society is naïve. The upcoming production Wer nicht gegen sich selbst denkt, denkt gar nicht. Abwesenheitserfahrungen addresses the current triumph of the terror of unequivocality, narcissistic shaming, and social polarization. Through which psychological absences do we make one another disappear? How and why do we deny this emotional violence of absence, these communicative, micro-fascist acts? Denial as the creed of capitalism. It is brutal, it is sad, it is hyperreal, it is such a pity.
