Electric Girls (AT)

It could be today or five hundred years from now, it's hard to say. The deeper into history, the further into the future. Once, a disease spread. The world stopped. Then it ran again. Nothing was the same any more.

I look at the pandemic as a catalyst for the redistribution of power and rights. Its possible consequences are observed through the lens of a critical, transfeminist lens, evaluated and narratively developed towards extreme consequences to create different scenarios. How can the web of futures that can emerge from today be weaved on a stage?

A journey in the preparation of a play, in a research.
Persistent and uncertain.
The attempt to arrange scraps and associations. The search for a form that can generate another form.
Questions upon questions upon questions.

Make a wish:
I want to dream, to move away from here but I want it to stay connected to today.
I want to make the uncertainty and sensitivity of the events an aesthetic approach.
I want to deal with the big picture.
I want to deal with what the world may look like in 1000 years.
I want to turn dystopia into a dream.
I want to reverse the narrative: in the face of tragedy, I can only remain optimistic. It's bad enough.

Biography

The label DERIVAT was founded in 2016 by Aurora Kellermann and Chris Wohlrab to work on their own artistic and curatorial projects at the intersection of research, documentation and performance in parallel to the joint management of the production venue TATWERK | Performative Forschung in Berlin.
After the first project "Krieg", a workshop based research in 2016 at TATWERK, DERIVAT produced the documentary performance mixed_me - EinMenschShow and presented it at TATWERK in 2017 and 2018. The reprise at Acker Stadt Palast, planned for June 2020, was postponed to June 2021. In 2018 DERIVAT organized the festival STRIPPED WORKS - Contemporary Performance Practices. Current projects are: "In the Heart of the Beast" (Ongoing research project) and "Electric Girls" (AT) (Performance, in concept phase).
